Beamer Conservation Area- Lookout Trail

Beamer Memorial Conservation Area

Well it’s finally time to recap the second Nolan Hikes video, this one taking place at Beamer Memorial Conservation Area in Grimsby, Ontario.

Definetly easier to get to than Rockway, Beamer is also part of the Niagara Escarpment and Bruce Trail, but this time just off of the QEW.

This hike will yield about 2 km’s of hiking along the Lookout Trail, with a few great view points, usually taking around 20 minutes. Skip to the bottom for the maps and video!

Your hike begins at the Beamer parking lot, located just off of Quarry Road. From here you’ll enter past the conservation area sign, and continue on the Bruce Trail into the woods.

After a short time walking in the woods, you’ll come to a large open field, with a tower in the middle (this is used to track bird migration), bathrooms to the far right, and on the far side, the entrance to the lookout trail.

On the opposite side of the field from where you enter, you have the lookout trail entrance. It has its nice lil sign, and a few large signs on the left side.

Quickly you’ll come upon a crossroads. Now, either way is the Lookout Trail loop, so it doesn’t matter too much which way you take. I prefer the left path so that’s the direction we’ll be going.

It’ll turn back into a walk in the woods for a bit, and then you’ll come to a nice lookout with a big tower.

From here, you’ll head to the right and follow the trail along the escarpment (be careful not to fall). You’ll pass a few more spots for nice views along your way, until you reach another crossroads. Here, we bend to the right again to stay on the Lookout Trail. If you choose left, you stay on the Bruce Trail.

Continuing on the Lookout Trail from that last crossroads, you end up back at the first crossroads (the first blurry pic) and then from there you can make your way back across the field and to your car.

And there you have it! You have completed the Lookout Trail

It’s just up the hill from multiple QEW exits as well as downtown GrimsbySearch up ‘Beamer Memorial Conservation area’ on a navigation app to be taken to the parking lot.
