Hey everyone, time for this May's fundraiser, this year the funds are going to Birds Canada (read more about them below)!

I will be pledging to hike 150 km and see 100 different species of birds in May, why not join me and see how many bird species you can see?

Prizes will be awarded to the people who see the most bird species, submitted to: may4mothernature @gmail.com (gofundme won't let me put the email in) by June 3rd!

More information about Birds Canada: Birds Canada is Canada's leading science-based bird conservation organization. Each year, roughly 70,000 volunteer Citizen Scientists across the country contribute to our conservation programs. Birds Canada's scientists and concerned citizens work together, gathering data that our researchers analyze for population trends and shifts. Our work has a direct impact on provincial, national, and international conservation action.

What happened? The goals?

 

  • This year I raised money for the Bruce Trail Conservancy again. I raised $800, after setting a $700 goal.

  • Beat the 257km I hiked in year 1 (300 or 310 would be awesome) Hiked 313 kms

    Raise $700 (raised $800)

  • Just below, you’ll see a bingo board. If you complete a line of it, you get a May 4 Mother Nature 2023 logo sticker.

    If you complete the whole board, you get an entry into a draw for a pair of Ontario Parks Turtle Socks!

Well that’s another year done!

This year I raised funds for the Bruce Trail Conservancy. Sadly I only raised $632 this year, but i’'ll just have to try harder next year!

This year I introduced daily hikes and a bingo board, as well as a draw for turtle socks.

May 4 Mother Nature

Well guys, May 2021 came and went, and with it, the start of my fundraiser. May 4 Mother Nature will be an annual fundraiser I’ll be doing every May, to raise money for some kind of nature conservation (hence the name). Every year I will be changing up what I will be doing to raise money, and where that money is going.

May 4 Mother Nature 2021

The first year of the fundraiser was certainly a success. I set my goals low, not having any idea on fundraising, and absolutely crushed them. This year I pledged to donate $1 for every km I hiked in the Month of May, and the donations all went to the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority.

Goals: Hike 100 km in the month and raise $100 (which was the minimum I was going to donate)

Results: Hiked 257 km, raised $1168, and did at least one hike every day.

The support I received for this fundraiser was immense and I am excited to do round 2 next year. Until then, feel free to watch the videos for 2021 and get giddy, I know I will be.
